A college student whose family referred to her as the “producer” who knew what she wanted to be was killed Tuesday when a reckless driver going nearly 95 mph in a 35 mph zone slammed into her vehicle.
Morgan Gamble, a 21-year-old Mass Media senior at Clark Atlanta University who was a student assistant on the popular Netflix sequel to “A Different World,” died from her injuries at Grady Memorial Hospital.
Gamble even got to star in the series’ pilot episode.
The driver, Nikolai Dunford, was charged with speeding, reckless driving and homicide by vehicle in the first degree. Officers who responded to the crash off Aaron Drive and Glen Street asked Dunford if they could download his vehicle’s event data recorder, according to the arrest warrant. Dunford agreed before calling his lawyer. He was later booked into the Fulton County Jail.
Gamble’s mother, Brandi, knew her daughter was ambitious very early on in her life.
“She knew what she wanted from day one. I think coming out of the womb. She wanted to produce, and she did it,” Brandi told WSBTV. Her father encouraged her to pursue her film dreams and study Shonda Rhimes’s career. Soon, Gamble would be producing family talent shows, shooting short films, documentaries and more.
Her father, George Gamble, told the outlet he wanted to drive through the crash scene to gauge what Dunford was thinking.
“I can’t imagine how you can drive 95 miles an hour in such a residential 35-mile-per-hour zone,” he said.
Brandi Gamble says she wants justice for her daughter, saying her losing her life was “senseless.”
“He deserves whatever it is justice will give him,” she said.
