Dream Big: Featuring Tyler The Creator

By Kolby Wobker | UniteNews Staff

DREAM BIG. That is the message Tyler Okonma embodies. In 2025, Tyler had a major impact on arts and entertainment culture in America. Known professionally as Tyler the Creator, he has carried that name since the early days of his career and has fully lived up to it.

Tyler is a world-class rapper, singer, songwriter, director, designer, and producer. He has had massive success in music, with albums like Igor, Call Me If You Get Lost, Chromokopia, and Don’t Tap The Glass all debuting at number one on the Billboard charts. He has won three Grammy Awards, solidifying his place as one of the most influential artists of his generation.

Even some of his non-award-winning projects are considered classics by fans. Flower Boy is widely viewed as his breakout album and features his most recognizable song, “See You Again” which has 2.8 billion streams on Spotify. His recent album “Don’t Tap the Glass” resonated deeply with listeners, especially because of its message. During its rollout, Tyler stated, “It is so easy to design your own handcuffs, lock yourself up, and put the key over there. That just turns into pressure.” This message encouraged artists to stop holding their work back and to release their creativity into the world. The “creator” label fits him perfectly. Tyler is not limited to music. He has directed short films, built fashion brands such as GOLF and Le Fleur, and created the television show Loiter squad, which aired for three seasons on Adult Swim.

Recently, he expanded into acting, tarring alongside Timothee Chalamet in Marty Supreme.

Marty Supreme is a movie about Marty Mauser, a professional table tennis player in 1952. The story follows Marty through his pursuit of becoming the best in the world. Mauser has to jump throughout the entire two and a half hour runtime, making Marty Supreme one of the most compelling sports dramas in recent history.

Tyler plays a character named Wally, a Black cab driver from New York. Marty relies on Wally during critical parts of the film, and their friendship becomes an emotional anchor in the story. Many critics initially doubted Tyler’s casting, believing it was a marketing stunt. Those doubts disappeared once the film was released. His performance helped the film earn a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Wally adds much-needed humor to the intense storyline, but he also faces racism and setbacks throughout the film. Tyler brings charisma and depth to the role, portraying a character who pushes forward despite adversity. That resilience mirrors the message Tyler has consistently promoted in his on career.

Tyler encourages people to release their art and pursue their passions. Marty supreme tells the story of a character who refuses to give up his on his dream. Together, both Tyler the Creator and Marty supreme end the same message”
