A 26-year-old Georgia mother is dead, and an 18-year-old man has been charged with her murder after her family tracked her to a Smyrna, Ga., apartment complex and found her remains.
Smyrna police charged Kingston Lammar Bradley with malice murder on Friday (Sept. 25) in the death of Shanteria “Tia” Mosely, known to loved ones as “KT,” FOX 5 Atlanta reports. Bradley had already been charged with concealing the death of another. He is reportedly being held without bond, and police have called the killing a “particularly gruesome crime.”
Mosely’s aunt, Michelle Weaver, told 11Alive that Mosely left home Wednesday, Sept. 23, to make DoorDash deliveries. When relatives couldn’t reach her that afternoon, they tracked her phone to the Park Valley Apartments off South Cobb Drive, where they found her car.
The family first called police to the complex at 6:57 p.m., according to a police timeline shared by 11Alive. The responding officer stayed about 30 minutes before leaving. Mosely’s family kept searching on their own. Weaver said relatives knocked on Bradley’s door earlier in the evening and asked whether he had seen anyone get out of Mosely’s car; he said he hadn’t.
Later, witnesses saw Bradley carrying a container, which police say he dropped before running back into his apartment. Police returned at 8:16 p.m. and found remains inside. Relatives said they recognized Mosely by a tattoo. On Friday, detectives executing a search warrant found additional remains in the trunk of a vehicle.
Investigators believe Mosely was killed between 10 a.m. and noon on Sept. 23 inside the apartment complex, FOX 5 Atlanta reports. The medical examiner has not yet officially confirmed her identity, and DNA testing is underway.
Police have not said whether Mosely and Bradley knew each other. Eighteen-year-old Bradley lives with his father at the complex, NBC News reports. DoorDash told police Mosely was not working the day she was killed, and there is no record of her delivering to the complex.
Bradley’s father, Kenneth Bradley, offered condolences to Mosely’s family in a statement posted online, said his son has struggled with mental illness for six years, and said he had no knowledge of or involvement in the killing.
Weaver said the family now wants answers about the police response, and wants Smyrna police “to have the correct facts” about how the search unfolded.
One thing is for certain, two things are for sure—KT Mosely’s family doesn’t play about her. Our most sincere condolences.
