NBA star LaMelo Ball is drawing attention after revealing that he does not regularly change his 9-month-old son’s diapers, saying the responsibility falls to his girlfriend, model Ana Montana.

During an appearance on “Inside the NBA” on Wednesday, October 21, LaMelo Ball explained that the couple has divided parenting responsibilities in a way that leaves diaper changes to Montana. “My girl do all that. It’s love, for sure,” Ball told the show’s hosts. He added that they have “a good game plan going on,” saying each partner understands what they are expected to contribute.

When host Ernie Johnson Jr. suggested Ball did not know what he was missing by not changing his son’s diapers, the 25-year-old clarified that he had done it before.

“I’ve definitely did it before, [but] it’s just not my job,” Ball said. According o Page Six, His comments quickly became a talking point because diaper changes are a routine part of caring for an infant. While Ball described the arrangement as a division of responsibilities, his remarks also prompted questions about how couples share the everyday demands of raising a child.

LaMelo Ball plays for the Minnesota Timberwolves and shares his son with Montana, whose birth name is Analicia Chaves. The couple reportedly began dating in 2021 and made their relationship Instagram official in June 2023. The couple welcomed LaOne in January but did not publicly announce his birth until May. Montana shared the news on Mother’s Day, May 10, expressing gratitude for becoming a mother.

In her Instagram post, she described her son as her purpose and wrote that she had long felt her heart was waiting for him. The announcement also coincided with the launch of I Am Fertility, a nonprofit and grant initiative intended to support women navigating fertility treatments and in vitro fertilization (IVF).
