March 20, 1957 -December 1 2024
Lamarr Pierre Jamerson, Sr., a beloved husband, father, brother, pastor, and friend, passed away peacefully in his home on December 1st, 2024. Known for his warmth, generosity, and unwavering faith, Lamarr’s legacy is one of love, service, and inspiration to all who knew him.
Born into a family of eight siblings, Lamarr’s life was defined by his deep connections and devotion to family. In 1982, he married the love of his life, Deborah. Together, they built not only a thriving business—Jamerson Door & Manufacturing, Inc.—in 1989 but also a partnership rooted in mutual love, respect, and shared faith. Their entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to excellence made them a cornerstone of their community.
Lamarr’s faith was the foundation of his life. In 2004, he founded New Hope International Ministries, a church that became a beacon of hope and inspiration. As a pastor, he also served as the former moderator of the Southwest District and as Dr. Griffin’s third vice president for the state of Missouri for three years, offering spiritual guidance and leadership to countless individuals and congregations. His dedication to his faith was matched by his kindness and generosity—he never met a stranger and had a unique ability to make everyone feel seen and valued.
Lamarr’s accomplishments extended beyond his pastoral work. During his youth, he was awarded the prestigious “Boy of the Year Scholarship” from the Boys Club, a full-ride scholarship that recognized his exceptional character and promise. An accomplished graduate of Central High School in Springfield, MO, Lamarr continued his education at Missouri State University, where he laid the groundwork for his future achievements.
Beyond his professional and spiritual success, Lamarr found immense joy in life’s simplest pleasures—reading, fishing, watching “The Godfather”, and, most importantly, cherishing time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought boundless joy to his life.
Lamarr is survived by his beloved wife, Deborah; his three children: Kendrick and Tasha of Orlando, FL, Monique and Randy of Springfield, MO, and Lamarr Pierre Jamerson II and Karina of Los Angeles, CA; and his godson, Elijah Harris. He was the proud grandfather of eight grandchildren: Kimberlee, Alexandra, Randy Jr., Ranaya, Randalynn, Raelynn, Alaya, and Nyla, as well as four great-grandchildren.
He also leaves behind three brothers: Londell and Monique of Lee’s Summit, MO, Lindsey and Bettina of Kansas City, MO, and Londerick of Maricopa, AZ; and four sisters: Sharon and Mike of Ponchatoula, LA, LaVonne of Fairburn, GA, and Karla of Springfield, MO. Additionally, he is survived by a large extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and brothers- and sisters-in-law.
Lamarr was preceded in death by his parents, Phyllis and Londell Jamerson Sr.; his stepfather, James Duke; his sister, Lois Blakey; his uncle, Lloyd Ingram; and his great-aunt, Josephine Wilburn.
Lamarr’s life was a shining example of faith, resilience, and dedication to his family and community. His legacy of kindness, generosity, and love will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit will live on in the hearts of all whose lives he touched.
Funeral services were held at Washington Avenue Baptist Church, 1722 North National Avenue, Springfield, MO. Arrangements were under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home.
