Shemar Moore is 56-years-old, and apparently those abs don’t come easy.

The “S.W.A.T. Exiles” star got very candid about what it takes to stay in fighting shape during a packed Vibes & Views event at NeueHouse in New York City on Wednesday, September 30.

When the conversation turned to “S.W.A.T. Exiles” and the physical rigor it takes to step back into the role of Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson, Moore decided to let the results speak for themselves.

The actor stood up in front of the packed room, lifted his shirt and showed off his chiseled physique, drawing a big reaction from the audience.

But the moment wasn’t just for show. During his conversation with Vibes & Views founder and NBC News Entertainment Contributor Chris Witherspoon, Moore revealed just how much work goes into maintaining that physique. His fitness regimen essentially amounts to two workouts a day, five days a week.

First things first: “No drinking,” Moore said.

Then comes the gym.

Moore revealed that he spends around two hours working out with his trainer, hitting just about every muscle group imaginable.

“That’s weights, chest, back, legs, core, shoulders, biceps, triceps,” Moore told the audience. “That’s with my trainer. So that’s about two hours a day. I would say five days a week.”

For most of us, that would be more than enough.

For Moore? That’s apparently just round one.

“And then I go home. So it’s pretty much a two-a-day,” he explained.

And Then Come the 200 Pushups…

Once he’s home, Moore said he knocks out 200 pushups and 300 sit-ups before running a mile, with a goal of finishing in under eight minutes.

Still not done.

He follows that with a 45-minute incline speed walk to burn calories and another 130 lunges.

And after putting his body through all of that, recovery becomes part of the workout too. Moore said he spends about 30 minutes in the sauna, followed by six to 10 minutes in a cold plunge.

He does the routine five days a week.

Yes, you read all of that correctly.

And if anyone in the room questioned whether the routine was working, Moore offered some pretty convincing evidence when he lifted his shirt and showed off his abs for the crowd.

Shemar Moore Is Still Betting on Himself

The fitness conversation was just one moment from an evening that saw Moore open up about his career, longevity and the work ethic that has kept him going for decades.

His latest chapter is “S.W.A.T. Exiles,” which has already climbed to the top of the STARZ charts in the United States. The series premiered on September 25 and quickly became the platform’s No. 1 TV show in the U.S.

For Moore, staying ready physically is clearly part of a much bigger philosophy. Throughout the conversation, he spoke candidly about betting on himself, refusing to become comfortable and continuing to push himself even after decades of success in Hollywood.

The actor told the Vibes & Views audience that there were plenty of people who didn’t believe he would make it when he was starting out. More than 30 years later, he’s still finding new ways to prove himself.

Wednesday night’s event brought together a packed room of journalists, tastemakers, creators and entertainment industry insiders at NeueHouse for an intimate conversation with Moore followed by a special screening of “S.W.A.T. Exiles.”

But on Wednesday night, the room belonged to Shemar Moore.

And somewhere between the career advice, the “S.W.A.T. Exiles” conversation and those abs, he also managed to make 200 pushups sound almost reasonable.

Almost.
