The Cool Out Corner Podcast

By: Samuel Knox

1. What first inspired you to launch your podcast, and how did the idea take shape?   Joe Budden, a former rapper who gained fame for his 2003 single “Pump It Up,” inspired our podcast. I was listening to his show one day and told my friend L, “We should start one. We’re definitely funny enough.” We spent a few months planning, went through some trial and error, learned a few things, and we’re still learning as we go—making history along the way!

2. How would you describe the main theme or focus of your show?   When Big L and I started the podcast, our main goal was to make people laugh. You never know what someone might be going through, and laughter is good for the soul. The main theme is comedy based on real-life situations—finding humor in everyday moments that most people can relate to.

3. Who do you consider your core audience, and what do you hope listeners take away from each episode?   Our core audience includes both men and women, though we’ve found more women tuning in. The age range is all over the place—from about 21 to 54, which is crazy! I hope listeners pick up a few good gems from the jokes and conversations we share along the way.

4. Can you share a bit about your personal journey—from your first episode to where you are now?   Since we started in 2020, I feel like I’ve come a long way personally. I see our listeners as long-distance friends and family. The podcast has become a form of therapy for me, and getting on the mic now feels like going to work. It can really boost your confidence if you’re feeling low.
