Trump And Republicans Blame Each Other For Midterm Humiliation, But, Man, All Y’all Suck

Welp, it happened, y’all: the blue wave. The blue tsunami. The blue-nami. The blue-pocalypse. The blue-mageddon. This was a massacre of Texas-elected-a-Latina-woman-Democrat-as-governor proportions. TEXAS!

Republicans didn’t just lose the midterm elections; they got stomped, taken to the hospital, discharged, and then stomped again. Now, as they try their best to navigate the FAFO stage, they are all playing the blame game, by which I mean they are all being delusional about why they lost so utterly and completely.

Let’s start with President Donald Trump and all the ketchup that must be staining the Cheesecake Factory-gold walls of the Oval Office right about now.

Before all the results had even come in, Trump was fuming at Fox News, the network that was so desperate to appease him and his MAGA cultists that anchor Bret Baier forgot he was on live TV and asked a correspondent, “Can we do a spin on the races?” before realizing he was on a hot mic, prompting him to quickly say, “Oh, I’m sorry. I guess we’re on TV.”

At 6 p.m. on Tuesday evening, Trump blamed the incoming blue avalanche on Fox News spending too much time covering Democrats, which, of course, is a thing it would have to do while calling races between Republicans and Democrats, whom he’s still calling “Dumocrats,” despite the number of times he has felt compelled to MAGA-splain to his audience that the word “dumb” has a “B” at the end.

Anyway…

“FoxNews Ratings are way down (27%!) because they’re spending too much time covering the Trump Deranged Dumocrats! All of those people who used to watch Fox, and no longer do, get it. It’s them, not me — My numbers are better than they have ever been,” Don the Delusional wrote before citing CNN poll numbers that do not exist, including a claim that he polled better with Republicans than Abraham Lincoln, who he said polled at 8%, ignoring (or being ignorant of) the glaring fact that presidential approval ratings have only been tracked since the 1930s. (Seriously, even if you’re going to tell that lie, why put Lincoln at 8%? Somebody seems to still be really salty that the slaves got freed.)

Trump was far from done with Fox. Not long after his first post, Trump posted, “The FoxNews Poll, always the worst, is so insulting with the questions they ask. Every question is a hit job, and every answer is “BULLSHIT!” This has been going on for years.”

Later on, when it became undeniably clear that Republicans were getting stuffed in their lockers after having their lunch money taken, Trump called in to Fox News to complain to Fox News about Fox News.

“I read at Fox that I’m not popular. The Fox polls are terrible. You ought to get yourself a good pollster ’cause your polls are the worst,” Trump fumed.

Baier tried to explain to him that his network’s polls say the same thing virtually every poll says: that he’s the most unpopular president of any of our lifetimes.

Now, to Trump’s credit, he did stray from his usual routine of blindly claiming the elections were rigged, and he even congratulated Democrats on their win, while, of course, insisting that he doesn’t “view it as a hit on me,” because “we’ve had the greatest two years in the history of the presidency.”

Meanwhile, a lot of Republicans seem to think their loss is absolutely a “hit on” Trump.

From Politico:

“There’s a little bit of a reckoning in the Republican Party about where they go,” said Matt Dole, chair of the GOP in deep red Licking County, Ohio. “I think you’re going to see a part of the Republican Party advocate for a return to normalcy, which is not repudiating Trump’s ideology and policies, but will repudiate Trump’s style.”

“It sounds a little ironic,” failed Maine Republican Gov. candidate Bobby Charles told POLITICO. “but I am nevertheless optimistic for the future because Trump’s going to be gone in two years.”

“We are beyond candidate quality. It’s a bloodbath,” one senior Senate GOP official said. “Trump did this.”

A Republican operative working on swing state campaigns said Tuesday was a perfect storm “of just incompetence.”

“The people in the White House didn’t do anything to stop him from engaging on things that were actively making everything worse because he was ignoring what the voters were caring about,” the operative said.

Here’s ex-cultist-in-her-own-mind Marjorie Taylor Greene saying Trump is entirely to blame because he’s a “cult leader.”

According to Politico, Trump’s adviser Alex Bruesewitz blamed the GOP’s poor performance on candidates he described as “uninspiring, lazy and thoroughly ineffective communicators.”

Meanwhile, Donald Trump Jr. — the guy who didn’t seem to know Ohio is already a state — blamed Republican voters for “being lazy and not showing up.”

Sir, please, be for real.

Here’s Fox News’ Sean Hannity blaming Democrats for hating Trump so hard.

“The hatred for this man is unprecedented; I’ve never seen anything like it,” Hannity said, refusing to be introspective enough for even a second to really think about why that might be.

And here he was indicating that he was gon’ cry in the car.

It might make the fine folks at Fox News feel better to know Trump didn’t just blame them for the Democrats’ fortune; he also blamed Texas Gov. Greg Abbott for being a “rino,” which is why Trump thinks he lost his race to Governor-elect Gina Hinojosa.

“If Greg Abbott, the Governor of Texas, hadn’t become a RINO in the last six months of his Political Life, he wouldn’t have lost. He went back to his original formula, and it wasn’t pretty!” Trump wrote

And to think of all the MAGA-glazing loyalty Abbott has shown Trump over the years. He gerrymandered maps for Trump. He protected trigger-happy ICE agents for Trump.

My God, people, he donned a Spurs jersey and dunked on New York Knick-and-Gov. Kathy Hochul just for Trump’s amusement.

These MAGA hoes ain’t loyal.

Speaking of loyalists, Trump supporters are not abiding by the GOP’s fingers pointed at their messiah. Here’s Black MAGA podcaster Terrence K. Williams blaming soon-to-be former Senate Majority Leader John Thune “because that disgraceful fool did not pass the SAVE Act.”

You can tell Williams hasn’t been to any recent Black cookouts by the way he pronounces “fool.” I’ve never in my life heard a negro pronounce it “fooal.”

Here’s the thing, y’all: all of them are to blame.

The Republican Party surrendered itself to Trump. It joined Trump in making bigotry and culture war nonsense its entire collective personality. Republicans staged Klan rallies disguised as MAGA rallies across the country, forgetting that they needed the votes of Black and brown people, too, and now they’re acting all gobsmacked, trying to figure out how Georgia ended up with a Black woman governor, and how candidates like James “Talafreako” spanked Ken Paxton and other opponents by double digits.

Oh, I’m sorry, did Abdul El-Sayed still win in Michigan, despite how desperately racist MAGAts tried to tie him to Islamic extremism? Did the “look, he’s a Muslim, he’s a Muslim, HE’S A MUSLIM” strategy fail to produce the intended results, much like it didn’t when they tried it on NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani, and former President Barack Obama before that? You don’t say.

Surprisingly enough, it was Vice President JD Vance who made the most sense out of anyone in the MAGA world who has tried to explain their massive loss. He wrote a whole book report about it, and, sure, the bulk of what he wrote boiled down to, “Republicans lost because people voted Democrat more,” but he also cited the Iran war, inflation, and the administration’s undying loyalty to Israel for the loss.

I’m pretty sure Trump is going to throw a bottle of ketchup at Vance’s head next time he sees him, though.
