About the SpringMO Black Wellness Initiative

The Black Wellness Initiative is a multi-year initiative designed to help local black residents rediscover what healthcare means and how we can act together to advocate for and promote better health outcomes.

The objective is to influence and adopt health policies and best practices that consistently increase health equity.

We also seek to:

  • Address the social stigma of healthcare disparities and mental health
  • Acknowledge the barriers and other factors that influence the “social determinants of health”
  • Build connections between underutilized resources in the community
  • Facilitate workshops, screenings and community-wide campaigns to improve health literacy
  • Empower participants to be proactive and advocate for their own health and wellness
